A Safeguarding Self-Assessment Tool (SAT) has been developed to assist parishes and entities to self-assess their compliance with the Safeguarding Children and Young People Framework to ensure that child safety is embedded within the culture of the parish and entity that is then reflected in the way in which the parish or entity conducts its ministry.

The four NCSS capability areas

This version of this self-assessment tool (V2) has been condensed, with standards grouped into four capability areas that are aligned to the second edition of the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards (NCSS):

Four NCSS capability areas

Each section above aligns to the Safeguarding Self-Assessment Tool’s identified capability areas, which has been mapped to the Victorian Child Safe Standards (VCSS) and documents the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards (NCSS).

The information in each section details the Safeguarding Children and Young People Framework and provides supporting safeguarding documents, i.e. information sheets, procedures, guidelines, templates and resources to assist your parish, agency or entity to meet its safeguarding obligations.
